ESCAPE TO KEY WEST

4 Ride Days Guided, Self-Guided or Road Trip Auto

Guided Tour March 18-23, 2015

By March or April, every motorcyclist who lives in an area of colder climates is eager to do some riding. Here's your chance to start your season off with a Florida ride that gets you on a bike - and a luxurious holiday with ample opportunity to enjoy the finer aspects of lodging, dining and sightseeing in the sun.

You'll cover enough miles to shake off the winter blues, but still have plenty of time to relax and take in some of the attractions that make Florida such a popular destination for Americans and Europeans alike. You might even consider extending your stay in Miami before or after the ride.Arches National Park

We'll be riding deep into into the heart of Everglades National Park. Our destination is the Flamingo Bay Visitor Center on the Atlantic Ocean at the very southern edge of mainland Florida.

Everglades is the 3rd largest national park in the lower 48 states, covering 2,500 square miles. The boundaries of the park protects only about 20% of the historic Everglades ecosystem. In its entirety, this massive watershed boasts a multitude of habitats that provide refuge to a unique collection of wildlife.

The ’Glades are one of North America's unsung wild places - a beautiful, rugged, subtropical landscape experienced by a relatively few adventurous souls each year. Best of all, you'll see it on a bike!

Ponce de Leon discovered the Florida Keys (from “cayo” the Spanish word for island) in 1513. They have been the home to Native Americans, Spanish explorers, pirates, artists, dreamers and beach-bums. Today the Keys are among the premier outdoor adventure destinations in the United States. Hwy. 1 takes us across a narrow strand of islands linked by bridges and causeways.

Traveling from North to South the first Key is Key Largo, which features some of the best diving in the Keys at John Pennekamp Coral

Reef State Park. Diving, snorkeling and glass-bottom boats provide visitors amazing views of undersea life and the Christ of the Abyss statue, a sub-aquatic bronze Christ.

Next is Key Islamorada, the “Sport Fishing Capital of the World”. It’s a popular place to fish for a variety of game species like marlin and tuna in the area’s crystal blue waters. We'll spend our first night on the road here.

The Heart of the Keys, Marathon, is a small town in the middle of the islands. It’s a good place to shop before taking the 7-mile bridge over the water, which offers stunning views of the ocean and the bay. Past Marathon lays a chain of small islands known as the Lower Keys.

Key West, the southernmost point in the US, is just 90 miles from the coast of Cuba. The nightlife here can get a little crazy, but for some that’s part of its appeal. The nightly Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square is famous all over the world. We'll spend two nights in Key West. KeyWestmark

On your "day off" you can relax and pursue some of the other activities available in Key West. Water fun includes boat rides, whale watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, and fishing. For land activities, check out local attractions, museums, historical sites, and fabulous shopping and dining. Take a tour with the Trolley to get a good look of the city. You can even try sky diving or parasailing.

We return to Miami on Sunday, thrilled that we started the season out right and looking forward to the next Great American ride!
