At Great American Motorcycle Touring, we try to make all aspects of your ride as easy and uncomplicated as possible. Not just your actual tour... but reservations and planning too. We hesitate to call what follows "The Rules" but we do have some policies designed to insure maximum enjoyment and minimal potential for confusion down the road. Since we plan our accommodations and other arrangements months in advance, this insures that our guests are given top priority and personal service from beginning to end.
Experience has taught us that, much as we'd like to, we can't count Riders who SAY they are going - we count DEPOSITS. Since the operation of each tour depends on achieving a minimum number of participants, we ask for a deposit of $500 per person at the time of booking. This may be paid by check, money order, MasterCard, Visa or PayPal. Download the appropriate REGISTRATION FORM and return by e-mail, fax or mail or let us know if you need the forms sent to you. If you prefer, you may contact us by phone to transmit credit card information. Full payment is due by the specified closing date on the GAMCT website for each tour. A check, money order, or Electronic Finds Transfer (EFT) is preferred for final payment. We will credit you up to $50.00 to cover any transfer fees charged by your bank.
Cancellations - Your deposit is refundable up until the registration deadline for your tour, less a $200 fee per person. Your entire tour fee must be paid by the registration deadline. If you cancel less than 60 days but more than 30 days days prior to the tour date, we will refund 50% of the tour price. No refunds will be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the tour date. If a tour is cancelled by Great American Touring Group, Ltd. for any reason, you will receive a full refund of everything you have paid to us. We cannot refund the cost of “non-refundable” airline tickets.
Unless indicated otherwise, Guided Tours run with a maximum of sixteen and a minimum of six motorcycles plus our tour staff. If a tour has less than the minimum number of riders, we will offer the opportunity for those registered
to pay a supplemental fee before making a decision to cancel the Tour. Discounts given at the time of Registration are dependent on achieving the required minimum number of participants. Various discounts and incentives may be offered during the year. They cannot be combined - riders can choose which discount they wish to apply. By default you'll be given the eligible discount that results in the lowest cost to you.
Insurance Please consider obtaining trip-cancellation insurance to protect your investment should unforeseen circumstances cause you to cancel your tour, or you experience a situation which makes unforeseen expenses necessary, such as lost luggage or a need for emergency medical transportation. We offer this insurance through Travelex. Apply for Travelex online or obtain coverage from any source of your own choosing. Unlike some plans, Travelex does NOT EXCLUDE motorcycling from the list of covered activities.
Optional Coverage (in addition to the included Collision Damage Waiver) on rental motorcycles, fuel, snacks, insurance, alcoholic beverages, and incidental or personal items are your expense. Admission fees to National Parks and Recreation Areas we visit as a group as a planned part of the tour itinerary are included on Guided Tours; they are additional on other tours. We're sorry, but since we make all our arrangements far in advance of the tours, we can't give refunds for meals, lodging or attraction fees not used. Further details can be seen on our "What's Included" page.
Most of our selected inns, B&B's, and hotels have a no-smoking policy in guest rooms and other areas. You can ask for a smoking room, but most likely you'll have to step outside. Tours include lodging and meals as indicated in the individual tour descriptions.
Your Tour Begins on the afternoon of the "Start" date and ends with dinner on the evening before the "End" date. However, the final night's lodging IS included, as is transportation to the the airport for your departure the next morning.Unless indicated otherwise, Guided Tours run with
a maximum of sixteen and a minimum of six motorcycles, plus our tour staff. A Support Vehicle (SV) will accompany Guided Tours and carry two pieces of luggage per person.
If you are arriving in the gateway city by air, we recommend that you schedule your arrival for late morning or early afternoon of the Start day. After checking into your hotel, riders who are renting motorcycles will be taken to the rental location in the late afternoon to collect the bikes. This allows time to handle paperwork, become familiar with the bikes, and get an earlier start on the tour the next morning.
About Motorcycles: If you are using a rented motorcycle, an additional deposit may be required. Because we work with different vendors, payment and cancellation policies vary. We will advise you of what is necessary after you have selected your tour and bike and we have confirmed availability for the days required. We can also offer recommendations and assistance for those who wish to ship their own motorcycle. Be aware that while we will do our best to provide your preferred motorcycle, your selection is not guaranteed.
Licensed riders on all makes and models of motorcycles are welcome to participate in any of our tours. However, all machines must comply with state and local laws regarding mechanical and electrical equipment and noise levels. Excessively loud pipes are not well suited for the areas and conditions where we will be traveling. Riders and passengers are responsible for their own compliance with state traffic laws and applicable regulations concerning helmets and other personal safety equipment.
Great American Touring Group, Ltd. STRONGLY URGES the wearing of a helmet and safety equipment, such as abrasion-resistant clothing, gloves, boots and eye protection, AT ALL TIMES, regardless of the law.
